SEPTA has restored all of the service that was eliminated or reduced last month, so riders can now return to their old routines. However, they will have to cough up more to ride. SEPTA fares are now up 21.5% across the board.
The base fare for metro service is now $2.90, up from $2.50. A monthly TransPass went from $96 to $116. The most expensive monthly pass on the Regional Rail is now $255, a $51 increase.
SEPTA says the extra revenue will help, on top of the state-approved capital transit funds it will tap into over the next two years. Still, the agency says a long-term funding solution is needed from lawmakers in Harrisburg.
