BMW E30’s Broken BBS RM Wheels are Fixed!!

Описание: 11 months in total is the time that has passed since I last drove on my BBS RM's. The tire shop (undisclosed) broke one of the wheels mounting it to their machine. It took 5 months to find wheels and the conflict in Russia meant it was uncertain that the wheels would arrive. Two of the four wheels arrived, which is all we needed.

Of the 11 months, five were waiting on wheels, so we can't hold the tire shop accountable for that. 6 months is what it took for the wheel shop (NuWheel) to rebuild the wheels. They first tried color matching the wheels, fail! The paint job was horrendous so I asked for them to repainted. Ultimately NuWheel determined they were unable to paint a more complex wheel thus the wheels were sent to Anderson Painting.

The wheels were powder coated in their toughest coating and ultimately cleared. During this process, the wheels were reassembled, but the lips were not polished and the rusted and damaged bolts were installed on fresh wheels. I noted a couple blemishes in the paint and brought that up to the shop and they promptly agreed to repair the blemishes (The edge between the wheel and the lip). At this time, the wheels had been disassembled several times, and NuWheel told us that they were done. They would no longer work on the wheels so we were forced to rebuild them ourselves or find a shop that specialized in wheels.

Wheel Specialists in Tempe, AZ was up to the task and completed the rebuild after the wheels were resprayed again. NuWheel either damaged 5 threads, which resulted in helicoils, or knew about them (damaged from Russia) and chose not to fix the issue. They added sealant and sent the wheels. That was infuriating and irresponsible on their part.

So, today was the maiden voyage. I find it strange, My e46 M3 is beautiful, but it does not collect the thumbs up that my e30 does. In 1 day we probably got 50 thumbs up from car enthusiasts as we drove through Tucson looking for a place to film.
