FAREWELL JUMBOLINO - SWISS Avro RJ100 fleet 2007-2017

Описание: It has been predicted quite a while ago, but at last it all went very fast: SWISS is retiring their fleet of the Avro RJ100. On August the 15th 2017, the last remaining RJ100 has received it's final ceremony at Zurich Airport.

Known as "Jumbolino", this aircraft has achieved an iconic status here in Switzerland. It's look is pretty much the exact opposite of what a modern short range jet looks like today. It has FOUR ENGINES, it's a high-wing plane and the elevators are at the top of the rudder. Nevertheless it has proved to be a very good flying machine with unique abilities. It was able to takeoff and land on very short runways. This made it well beloved by pilots and passengers. But as time goes, those little quad jets did not meet the economic conditions anymore. They are going to be replaced by Bombardier CS100 and CS300.

Personally, I had a love-hate relationship with the Jumbolino as a plane spotter. I kind of enjoyed it due to its different look, but also hated it because LSZH used to be packed by them. There was no other airport worldwide which used to have more movements of this aircraft than Zurich.

This video is my farewell to the Jumbolino. It's not about good camera work or video quality. You'll notice different qualities due to my new cam I'm using since late 2016. The purpose is to show all SWISS Jumbolinos one last time. Unfortunately I've missed two of them, HB-IYY and HB-IYW. But I hope you'll enjoy this special compilation dedicated to one of the most unique aircrafts ever flown.
