Описание: Judges use different rules of interpretation. Critics have argued that judges can use the rules of interpretation to achieve the judgement they want, instead of judging fairly. This video looks at the case of London and North Eastern Railway v Berriman [1946], where using the literal rule of interpretation meant that the widow did not get compensation for her husband's death while on duty. If the judge had used another rule of interpretation, such as the golden rule, the widow would likely have gotten compensation. Future videos will look at different rules of interpretation.
