New Year 2026 with Mr Amir Hassan, 100 Year Old Senior Citizen of Hunza [Urdu, Burushaski & Wakhi]

Описание: Though Hunza State was famous for sustaining long life spans of over a hundred years, it’s not a myth when we witness our senior citizens still blessed to cross a century of age in this transient world.
I was fortunate to meet one of our lively and senior citizens from Khaybar. He is Mr. Amir Hassan Shah, who has crossed a century. Shahi Khaybar Imami Development Organization (SKIDO), a local civil society organization of the community, has also celebrated his 100-year birth anniversary.
A detailed life account of him I intend to accumulate, but in haste, I’m going to share with you his important messages on the occasion of New Year 2026. We tried to explore whether New Year events were celebrated. He responded in the affirmative, though it was with regard to the New Year of the Iranian calendar, the Navruz celebration.
Being a person of the Greatest Generation (1901–27), Mr. Amir Hassan Shah is still so lively, despite the fact he has recently encountered health issues as well. He is very fit and his memories are still fresh, though he does face a slight hearing challenge.
His conversation is in Burushaski language, his mother tongue, but he is also so fluent in Wakhi. Khaybar is known as a linguistically pluralistic settlement in Hunza, dwelled by both Burushaski- and Wakhi-speaking communities. The related audience could distinguish him as he speaks in both languages, though I encouraged him to prioritize his mother tongue as it is his utmost right and closest to his heart.
My thanks to all his family members for providing me this opportunity, despite the fact my purpose was a courtesy call. His son, Ghulamuddin, was very helpful in clearing the communication barrier and sitting with him to facilitate the questions.
