Let's now begin:
The KTM 390 Adventure is a fantastic motorcycle to tour, commute and do trails on. But a little bit of extra touches can make it phenomenal. In this video, I tell you about the SS Motocorp accessories I have on my motorcycle that have made a huge difference in comfort and confidence when I hit the trails.
Okay, first things first: HANDLEBAR RISERS
While standing on the pegs and riding, I find the stock handlebars to be low. While some may find it adequate, I do not and immediately knew I needed risers.
I first tried one-inch handlebar risers, but again was left wanting for more.
Saurab Shirke from SS Moto is a KTM 390 Adventure rider himself and we both are about the same height. (5.10.5)
So, he built 2-inch handlebar risers from aluminium for the bike, since he too felt the same.
Standing up and riding has become so convenient now. I don't have to hunch as much as I had to earlier and can just focus on the trail ahead.
We did have to change the clutch cable of the bike to one from a Bajaj Avenger as the stock KTM 390 Adventure cable is not long enough to support 2-inch risers.
These risers are priced at Rs 1,500 (including 28% GST).
CRASH GUARDS
The crash guards made by SS Motocorp are unlike most others in the market. Instead of taking the factory guards off and replacing them with a giant cage, their guards are add-ons to the existing ones.
The idea here is to keep the weight as low as possible and to protect the tank in the eventuality of a fall.
The guards only weigh 1.4 kg or so each side, and are made out of mild steel. The clamp though is aluminium and sourced by Bajaj.
Fitting them on the bike was easy, but I can't tell you how effective they are, yet. I am sure it is a matter of time I kiss the ground on the trail and then we will have a first hand experience of how well these work.
The guards are priced at Rs. 4,900 (inclusive of 28% GST).
SS Motocorp also sells saddle stays for this bike (I have them on mine), but obviously they are not a trail accessory, rather a touring one. If you want to know about them in detail, let me know and I will make a dedicated video on it. (Cost: Rs 3,500 inclusive of 28% GST)
There are other exciting trail-friendly mods coming from SS Motocorp in the near future, including an aluminium sump guard and a foldable aluminium rear brake lever tip.
Do follow his Instagram channel and check out his website for more details: http://www.ssmoto.in/
I will bring you review of these products once they are ready for testing.
For now, thank you so much for watching this video. If you have any remarks, feedback, please do let me know in the comments section below.
As always, have a great day.
Cheers
