A new client contacted me and requested that someone trim the hedge in the front yard of his house. However, since he was on vacation, he asked if I could do it without him being present. He provided me with the address and sent me a photo of the hedge. When I arrived at the site, I saw that the hedge had not been trimmed for several years, and there were also several laurel bushes and another yew bush near the trash cans. I walked around the entire yard and got the impression that no one lived there. There was even a stack of old newspapers lying on the steps, which were overgrown with weeds, but someone had mowed the lawn in this yard, perhaps at the request of the neighbors. I also noticed the dried-up boxwood bushes along the house. Even though the owner only asked me to trim the hedge, I decided to spend a little more time on this yard.
I started by trimming the hedge by the road, trying to cut as much as possible without damaging it too much, as conifers do not like heavy pruning. When I had trimmed the hedge on all sides, I started trimming the top, then trimmed the laurel and started trimming the larger bush near the trash cans and trimmed another laurel bush near the tree. I also decided to trim a tree whose branches could interfere with people walking on the sidewalk and shaped another small hedge near the gate. Then I started cleaning up the yard, raking everything closer to the road so that it would be easier to load everything into the trailer at once.
When the main work was completed, I decided to clear the stones of weeds, but before that, I gathered the stones that were lying on the paving stones into bags and started removing the weeds. I didn't immediately understand why someone had left a large patch of overgrown grass in the corner, even though the rest of the grass had been mowed, but it turned out that there was a patio here that was heavily overgrown, so I cleared it as well, giving it a less than perfect appearance, but better than it was. Later, I removed the leaves from the entrance on the inside, then blew everything away. To finish the job, I started removing the dried-up boxwood roots. I brought a shovel and a hoe, thinking it would be difficult, but this time I was lucky: the roots were completely dry, and I managed to do the job with just a shovel.
The whole job took me 7 hours and filled one full trailer.
