Temple of Heaven Park (Temple of Heaven), formerly known as the “Temple of Heaven and Earth”, is located in Beijing's Dongcheng District, No. 7, East Lane, inside the Temple of Heaven, was built in the 18th year of the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty (1420), and was renamed the Temple of Heaven in the 9th year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1530), and was a place where emperors of both the Ming and Qing dynasties “sacrificed to heaven”. It was the place where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties “sacrificed to heaven” and “prayed for grain”. With a total area of 273 hectares, it is the largest existing ancient sacrificial complex in China. Republic of China seven years (1918) on January 1, set up as the Temple of Heaven Park, open to the public.

The park is surrounded by two altar walls, which are divided into two parts: the inner altar and the outer altar; the area is round in the north and square in the south, which means “heaven is round”; it mainly consists of the “Prayer Altar”, which is used for praying for a good year in the spring, and the “Prayer Altar”, which is used for praying for a good year in the summer. “Prayer Valley Altar”, the winter solstice day sacrifice of the ‘Huanqiu Altar’, the emperor's residence before the sacrifice of the Vegetarian Temple, the practice of sacrificial rites and music of the Shenlei Department of the four major ancient buildings; Prayer Valley Altar of the Prayer Hall is the city's landmark building. A large number of ancient forests are planted in the outer altar of Tiantan Park.
