Описание: SOT Zoom session from June 2022 where Frank Dorion describes and demonstrates his model of a Geometric Chuck. Although he does have an original geometric chuck, as a speaking aid for the occasion (and just for the fun of it), Frank constructed a double-size single stage geometric chuck made largely of wood, including wooden gears. The geometric chuck is a mechanical bag of tricks that is a mystery to some and the source of many questions among others. Frank’s goal for his presentation was to explain and demonstrate the mechanical functions performed by the chuck and then show how those functions are used to generate epicycloidal patterns. The talk included demonstrations of the geometric chuck’s capabilities using basic examples of various pattern types.
