Pressing is important while sewing because it reduces the number of creases present within the finished product. Articles that have not been pressed often appear amateurish because of their natural unevenness. Pressing also reduces the risk of damaging an item by dragging an iron across it.
Pressing helps you to get seams with a polished look. Also, when you press your creases and seams carefully, you will get an accurate cut. It is vital to press seams before sewing another seam across them. In addition, pressing helps retain the shape of the garment.
