About the Band:

Taking their name from an act of intimidation, it’s a fitting reflection of their sound; unrelenting, aggressive, and impossible to ignore. Standover play a brand of hardcore that drips with metallic venom, rooted in raw emotion and sharpened through years of collective experience in Aotearoa’s most brutal bands.

Formed by members of Forced to Submit, Damaged, Demonstrate, Saving Grace, and Vicissitude, Standover pull together different corners of the country’s heavy scene to create something that’s more than the sum of its parts. Their music is loaded with crushing riffs, bone-rattling breakdowns, and a vocal delivery that drags you through the dirt, not just angry, but purposefully confrontational.

With their debut full-length album, When a Clenched Fist Is No Longer an Option, released June 9, 2025, Standover cemented their place as a band with something urgent to say and the sound to make you listen. The album was produced by Vasely Sapunov, engineered by Sapunov and Troy Kelly, and edited, mixed, and mastered by Francesco Petrelli, capturing the full force of a band at their most focused and furious.
