Karachi Weather Alert: Heavy Rain, Strong Winds Claim 19 Lives | SAMAA TV


At least 18 people were killed in Karachi as the city was hit by heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds, causing widespread power outages, waterlogging, and structural damage. The worst-affected area was Baldia, where a building collapsed near Mawach Goth, killing 11 people, according to Edhi spokesperson Amin Edhi. Across the city, seven more deaths were reported in separate rain-related incidents, while over a dozen others sustained injuries. In Korangi near Tasleem Ground, a fallen tree trapped a man who was pronounced dead at Sindh Government Hospital, and his identity remains unknown. A wall collapse in Landhi’s Majid Colony killed a couple, Sher Wali (50) and Riazat Bibi, while in Korangi near Saddo Number Three, a roof collapse claimed the life of 45-year-old Shita. In Malir near Nadi Yaro Goth, a lightning strike killed 35-year-old Hazrat Umar, and in Clifton, a tree fall claimed the life of an unidentified woman around 35 years old. Tragically, a young girl, approximately four years old, was killed when a wall collapsed near Kamran Chowrangi in Gulistan-e-Johar. Additionally, two people were injured in Bhains Colony after a compound roof collapsed. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported wind speeds reaching 97 km/h, with heavy rain and thunderstorms affecting both urban and suburban neighborhoods, highlighting the severe impact of extreme weather on the city’s infrastructure and residents.
