From November 19–20, 2025 Moving Minds Alliance convened the first National Consultative Meeting on ECD in Crisis in Nigeria’s federal capital, bringing together government ministries, UN agencies, INGOs, NNGOs, media, community members, civil society, and refugee-led organizations.
Why does this matter? Nigeria hosts over 3.6 million forcibly displaced people, half of them are children, highest in West Africa. Holistic nurturing care for early years is critical yet often overlooked in crisis response.
Key outcomes? The Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning and Women Affairs alongside other partners made bold commitments to support our mission and the operationalization of an ECD in crisis advocacy coalition in Nigeria.
What’s Next? We are activating a national advocacy coalition for ECD in crisis and cocreating a roadmap for coordinated action from 2026–2028, aligned with global milestones like the ECD Financing Summit (2027) and the 2030 SDG deadline.
