The skipping in the video is down to the ink. Stipula saffron is very dry and skippy. I switched it to waterman blue and it has not skipped once.
The long and short. This is not a flex nib. It can go from an extra fine to about a broad line but requires an insane amount of pressure to do so. It is, however, a great writer and really makes inks that shade shine bigtime.
And the body of this pen is a re-branded jinhao 992. Which costs $2 on ebay. The problem with these pens is that they are not made from good plastic and are famous for just shattering, no matter how gently you use them, you will set them down and come back five minutes later to see a massive crack. I do not know if this quality control has been remedied yet. But if it has been fixed, this pen would be a great buy, because the plastic quality has been the only thing letting it down. The nib is, while not a flex nib, a great daily writer the pen is light, the hardware itself is nice, it's balanced and posts nicely. So if you want to buy a monza, I can't really recommend it just yet, but if you're willing to drop $20 on the chance and are willing to just salvage the nib (I have tested it in other pens and it fits many #5 nib pens) then I say go for it.
