A TDS tester is a device used to measure the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in a liquid. Total Dissolved Solids refer to the combined content of all inorganic and organic substances contained in a liquid in molecular, ionized, or micro-granular suspended form. These substances can include minerals, salts, metals, cations, and anions.
TDS testers typically work by using electrical conductivity to gauge the concentration of dissolved solids in the liquid. They often come in the form of handheld meters with probes that are immersed into the liquid being tested. The meter then displays the TDS measurement in parts per million (ppm) or milligrams per liter (mg/L).
TDS testers are commonly used in various applications such as testing the quality of drinking water, aquarium water, hydroponic nutrient solutions, wastewater, and other industrial processes where the level of dissolved solids is important to monitor.
