David Reed is a Californian who lives and works in New York. He attended the Studio School in 1966-67 and organized the School’s library in the late 60s. His work is currently on view at Gagosian Gallery and in Vice and Reflection –An Old Painting, New Paintings, and Animations at the Pérez Art Museum Miami.
Katy Siegel is the Thaw Endowed Chair at Stony Brook University and Senior Curator at the Baltimore Museum of Art. Her exhibitions include Postwar: Art Between the Pacific and the Atlantic, 1945-1965 at the Haus der Kunst, Munich, and High Times, Hard Times: New York Painting, 1967-75. She is the author of Since ’45: America and the Making of Contemporary Art.
Christopher Wool is an American artist who lives and works in New York City and Marfa, TX. He attended the Studio School in 1973, and recently co-curated Painting Paintings (David Reed) 1975.
This lecture coincided with the exhibition “Painting Paintings (David Reed) 1975,” curated by Katy Siegel and Christopher Wool, at Gagosian Gallery, January 17 - February 25, 2017.
