This week we talk about the various infrastructure and road network projects launched in Gurgaon but which were never completed. Thousands of crores of funds are sanctioned on paper but doe not translate into action on the ground be it in MG Road, Extension Road, SPR Road or Sohna.
MG Road Revamp Delayed
• 11.50 cr plan cleared to give area ‘European Look’ passed in 2022
• Deadline of Dec 2023 already missed
• Completion date still unclear
IFFCO Chowk - Extn Road Revamp
• 7 KM route revamp announced by GMDA in 2023
• No clarity on status of project
• Completion time unknown
• Sector roads in old city also need upgrading
Extension Road Upgradation
• Revamp of 8 Km stretch from Sec 56 to Vatika Chowk announced in 2019
• Seamless connectivity like GC Road planned with budget of 850 crore
• Funds yet to be sanctioned by government for project
Sector Roads Incomplete
• Sector dividing road of Sec 62-65 not completed
• 24 M Roads not built in Sector 62 and 65
• Major water logging during monsoons
SPR Road Challenges
• Major traffic snarls since opening of CPR/DXP
• Underpass work started after opening of DXP
• Elevated road linking Vatika Chowk to CPR announced recently
Sohna Road Challenges
• Delhi-Mumbai Expressway opening brought no relief to traffic
• Major snarls reported during rush hours at JMD Megapolis and Badshahpur
• Expressway more beneficial for Sohna than Gurgaon
South Of Gurgaon Challenges
• No service roads made on main Expressway
• Sector roads work yet to begin in sectors with existing habitation in Sectors 4,5,6,35 and 36
New Gurgaon Challenges
• Infrastructure better than old sectors
• No planning of red lights and flyovers within the micro market
• Traffic snarls reported at majority intersections during office hours
• Many sector roads and 24 M roads still not made
Dwarka Expressway Challenges
• Construction of sector roads delayed
• Planning of Expressway not futuristic like Noida Expressway
• Waste Management Plant being set up in area where government spent 9500 crore to make Expressway
