A wild elephant, separated from its herd, today (June 8) ran amok in the city, killing a 55-year-old man and a cow, police said. Trouble broke out after four pachyderms were separated from their herd after villagers chased them away from the fields in Narasipur taluk last evening to prevent damage to their standing crop. Of the four, two subsequently retreated towards the forest while the other two entered the city limits this morning where they got separated from each other near Bamboo Bazaar due to the crowd.
