I would like for us to look at the actions of an obscure woman who made a powerful impact in the lives of God’s people. Without her the Messianic line would have disappeared and there would have been no descendant of David to sit upon the throne of Judah. Her name as it is recorded for us in 2 Kings 22:2-3 is “Jehosheba”; 2 Chronicles 22 lengthens and changes her name somewhat to “Jehoshabeath.” For our lesson tonight, I will refer to her as Jehosheba. Many know little to nothing of what this woman did. Her story is one of the gems hidden away in Old Testament history.
