We tested the motorcycle without barrier at speeds of 2 km/hr, 3.8 km/hr, and 11 km/hr inside the wind tunnel. This video shows the air profile and density on the face of the passenger without a barrier. The white area on the front of the passenger's face means higher density (air coming through the face of the driver to the face of the passenger.
Test Result Without Barrier:
Higher air density on the face of the passenger can be observed at very low speed (2 and 3.8 km/hr) while it is almost clear when running at 11 km/hr. The speeds 2 and 3.8 km/hr can potentially cause virus transmission (in case the PPE's would not work) however these speeds are seldom happening in real life. At speed of least 11 km/hr (and higher), the air coming through the helmet/face of the driver has a higher drag which causes the air to be thrown away (far from the face of the back rider). This makes the front area of the passenger clearer at 11 km/hr.
Further recommendations:
This test shows that there is a higher drag/turbulence at higher speeds and it provides an indication of where the air goes from the front of the driver's face. The effect of the barrier in terms of drag force must be further studied to see the effect of it.
