The National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ) is a national center of astronomical and astrophysical research, with a long history of research at forefront of the field. The center offers a variety of instruments and equipment for open use by researchers from Universities and Institutes in Japan and beyond. Facilities are based all over the world everywhere from Hawaii to Japan to Chile and include an optical and infrared telescope, radio telescopes and their array, satellite observatories and a gravitational wave detector, as well as supercomputers for theoretical research. NAOJ provides education, public outreach and world-class research and technology in order to solve and share the universe’s many mysteries.
