DIY Curtain Rods

You'll need the following materials before you begin creating your decorative curtain rods: an unfinished wooden curtain rod, hammer, metal wire, a Sharpie, a staple gun, a ruler, gloves, tin snips, and brass sheeting. Use the wire to measure around your rod to ensure you cut the brass to the perfect size. Simply wrap the wire around the rod and overlap it about an inch. Create the finished edge of this DIY project by lining the ruler up with the brass and bending the brass up half an inch. Wearing gloves at this point is crucial because the edge of the brass is razor sharp. Remove the ruler and hammer down the brass to give it a straight edge that is no longer sharp. Cover the curtain rod with the brass sheeting and roll the raw edge down to the finished edge, securing with four staples once it is rolled up tightly. Continue your hand crafted home decor by laying pieces of the brass sheeting edge-to-edge. If it doesn't fit, just overlap the pieces onto each other and keep the factory smooth edge intact. You can try hanging curtains with your new DIY home decorating accent two different ways. One option for hanging curtains is using closet pole hangers and hanging the window treatments wall to wall, giving living room curtains a modern feel. You can also try finishing it off with finials, using black wrought iron curtain rings to contrast it nicely.
