GLOBAL STYXX is a video piece for improvised music. It consists of material shot on a container ship trip from Italy to Singapur. The video was designed in close collaboration with the Duo 'Motus Neu' (Bruno Angeloni, wind instruments / Steffen Roth, drums & percussion) as a visual notation for improvised music.
The piece GLOBAL STYXX explores abstract structures in nature and machinery, their inherent contradiction, but also their innate convergence. The unforgiving brutality of natural forces as of technological ones converge in the finale of the piece: 'Part 3 The Machines" presented here.
GLOBAL STYXX has been performed for the first time at Kalbe Potentiale Festival in 2019 and since then at different location. Funded by Goethe Institut it was presented in Mexico in 2021.
For this performance at Cammerspiele Leipzig Alvin Weber was invited as a guest musician.
