Moroso Air/Oil Separator Install (aka Catch Can)

In this video we show you how to install a Moroso Air/Oil Separator also known as a Catch Can. There is technically a difference between an Air/Oil Separator and a Catch Can. An Air/Oil Separator will route the oil back to the oil pan while a Catch Can collects the oil in the can to be drained out manually. You could obviously pour the captured oil back into the engine if you wanted to.

For this install, we didn't bother trying to figure out how to route the oil back into the oil pan. It's much easier to just drain out the oil captured at a regular interval, like every engine oil change. We're not talking a significant amount of oil captured.

The primary reason for using air oil separators is to avoid recirculating oil into the cylinders. This can coat the air intake with oil and slowly clog the airflow. This translates to increased maintenance and decreased engine performance over time.

Another major benefit of using a separator in the PCV system is that it prevents excess combustible oil from getting to the cylinder. Too much oil can cause premature combustion in improper parts of the engine. These detonations can cause significant damage, especially if they are allowed to continue. Having a well-optimized PCV system in your vehicle will save you a lot of time & money later on.
