What looks like a rock, but is actually a living animal?
Coral.
Singapore, a biodiversity hotspot, has over 250 species of corals in our waters. The temperature of our tropical waters provide a good environment for them to grow.
But seeing pieces of marine debris (man-made litter) on dives has become increasingly common. Rubbish like fishing lines tangling corals, plastic bags and bottles, invading the natural habitats of our marine life.
Enter Sam. She’s a Marine Conservationist, Divemaster, and the co-founder of Our Singapore Reefs & Our Blue Spaces. She works to propagate and restore corals, and in her spare time, leads community engagement initiatives to clean and clear our seas of litter.
