WHAT IS THE PUNISHMENT IF CONVICTED OF FALSE IMPRISONMENT IN NEVADA?

False imprisonment is typically a gross misdemeanor in Nevada carrying up to 364 days in jail and/or up to $2,000. But if a deadly weapon was used, false imprisonment becomes a category B felony carrying up to 6 years in Nevada State Prison. And using someone as a human shield carries up to 15 years in Nevada State Prison.

Note that penalties for false imprisonment are more severe for inmates. An inmate committing false imprisonment faces up to 6 years in Nevada State Prison. And an inmate committing false imprisonment using a deadly weapon faces up to 20 years in Nevada State Prison.
