Getting into the zone, painting. Flow state and hyperfocus.

Working on some fine details with this abstracted painting, 'Autumn'.

I used rich and earthy pigments. I had the palette I had chosen on the bed behind me.

I only have a very small painting space, which needs setting up each time. I have everything I need within reach.

I usually listen to music, which I have on a small bluetooth speaker clipped to the handle of a drawer. Can easily flick through my playlist.

Music can help me to get into the 'zone' of hyperfocus. If I don't feel like music or have had enough music for the day, I may need to block distracting noises.

This painting session was around an hour, which I condensed for the video. I muted it because of the copyright with music.

I usually paint at night, as a form of relaxation. The colours will look a bit different in natural light.

'Autumn' is a colour study, with focus on earthy pigments. I like to paint abstracts when I don't feel up to painting something more 'realistic'.
