Building a Quad Anchor

Описание: Mike shows how to build a quad anchor with 7mm cordelette. This simple setup meets SERENE, can change directionality, arms can be used to personally anchor into, can hold 2 tie-in points with loads in different directions, and it's great for bolt anchors.

STEPS:

1. Run kinks and loops out of cordallette.
2. Bring 20” of both ends of cordallette together.
3. Wrap one end over other end of cord.
4. Cross over and continue looping cord of both strands.
5. Pass the end of the cord under "X" made in cordallette and tighten.
6. Repeat 3-5 with one change by crossing cord under.
7. Dress knots, pull tight, and safety check.
8. Make a loop in joined cord and equalize so that 2 overlapping loops are formed in cord.
9. Secure one end so that both cords are equalized, make an overhand knot 18” down from arm by crossing cords and passing both strands through loop created by crossover.
10. Repeat the process for the other end making a distance of ~12 inches between both overhand knots.

Purchasing cordelette is as simple as visiting your local climbing store. Cordelette is roughly .50 cents a foot. Making a 20 ft quad anchor only $10. Be sure to purchase from a reputable vendor and that the product has been tested and given a Minimum Breaking Strength (MBS) rating.
