Express Entry PR hours — explained

What actually counts
• 1 year = 1,560 paid hours (TEER 0–3)
• Full-time: 30 hrs/week × 52 weeks (hours above 30/week don’t speed it up)
• Part-time: add paid hours across jobs until you reach 1,560 (no double-counting overlapping hours)
• Unpaid/volunteer/co-op: doesn’t count

Program rules (quick)
• CEC: Canadian experience, TEER 0–3, after graduation; not self-employed; not while a full-time student; can be multiple employers; doesn’t need to be continuous (within last 3 years).
• FSW: 1 year continuous in the same NOC (TEER 0–3) within last 10 years; can be outside Canada; self-employment may count with strong third-party proof.

Examples that meet 1,560 hours
• 30 hrs/week × 52 weeks at one job = 1 year FT
• 15 hrs/week × 24 months (one or more PT jobs) = 1 year FT equivalent
• 30 hrs/week total across multiple jobs for 12 months = 1 year FT

Tip: 2,000 hours in 6 months ≠ 1 PR year (cap is 30 hrs/week).
