In this poem Hassan Ibn Thabit showing off the military capabilities of his people (ansar) before Islam, showing gratitude of Allah for guiding them, and also praising the strength of muslim under the command of Prophet Muhammed Pbuh.

Lyrics meaning in English:
Allah chose us to stand for his prophet ﷺ

And built the pillars of Islam on top of our shoulders

He protected his prophet ﷺ and his book with us

And strengthened us through courage and continuous fighting

In every battle, our swords used to detach the skulls from the enemies brains

Gabriel visits our homes regularly teaching us Islam

And reciting the light of the perfect Quran.

Indeed it's a unique share of honor

We are the first ones to consider what Allah approves

And the first ones to avoid what Allah prohibits

We are the best among the whole mankind,

the leaders, and the people of charge

We throw ourselves into death with no fear

And we are the most patient during crises

We are who sustain the great affairs with power

And we are who can confute others authority

Ask Aba-Karb, Tubba`a [ancient Arabic kingdoms] about our deeds in war

And ask the other kings about the battles of Auhain, Hajir, and Ru`am

We protect the weak, and make charity to the poor

We break armies with our swords, and behead the powerful tyrants

We have been cutting, stabbing, and shooting our enemies in the days of war

Until we cleared the land from any source of resistance

The only way to survive our wrath was to flee

Only escapers would survive

It makes sense then to be proud of their history

My people's deeds are a great source of pride
