Welp, I finally went back and did it after waiting for a new test session for nearly a year.
To preface this video, I wasn't extremely confident about doing this solo. I'm really bad at the skating game, as the timer is extremely tight here to complete it, and it is a huge barrier to soloing it over a 2 star. It amazingly took me 3-4 tries to get a win on both minigames, which I did not anticipate. I was even surprised I got the victory on the skating game in this video, as it had a really rough start and I wasn't confident with the way that the cabinets were arranged. The shaker minigame I was more confident in, but I still didn't play it as well as I could have here. In an ideal world, you get a track back which is definitely possible in both, as it can make boiler not take your important gags as much (or maybe more aptly, waste turns not attacking and taking useless gags instead), but it is not so critical that it is mandatory. The minigames were the easy part it turned out.
What was the hard part and something I needed to study more again was the boiler fight. To avoid sugar coating it upfront, I made several poor decisions and, in certain cases, put myself in directly losable situations (e.g., around 1:23:30) that could have been avoided. I hadn't done a field office since near the time I had done the 2 star solo, so I'd forgotten a lot of the mechanics and a lot of what I had learned from the other two solos, and the rust definitely showed here early on. Case in point, I forgot you couldn't Moe on defense and got punished for it at around 39:20 but what is a 3 star solo without a Stamp of Disapproval for the fans? If I could do it over, I think I was relying too much on remotes early on during defense in ways that weren't beneficial, and overall took a while to adjust to the defense cogs just being a lot bulkier plus the defense applied by the boiler actually matters a bit here. More than anything, I was failing many Fired Ups to get any damage off with the ways I was handling sets, which is the nature of it to an extent but sometimes was setting myself up for poor cycles. From a resource perspective, I farmed enough unites and SOS I feel for this run (well, evidently I suppose as the run was completed, but to do it comfortably) and actually had org throw + an extra wedding this time, but I could definitely have used more 3 star remotes to not feel so conservative at times with using them. I had forgotten almost entirely that you could lure during Fired Up without retaliation, and in certain cases it could have been better than using remotes (e.g., had a couple instances where I damage remoted with a pair of cogs turn 1 of Fired Up where the other cog did not die, which would’ve likely been better to lure instead). But all that being said, I did make a lot of shot calls I think paid off quite nicely too, or at worst may not have been optimal but also largely inconsequential.
Healing remotes during Fired Up is still buggy, as can be seen by jumping in laff by over 50 at 2:05:08 which I was puzzled by even at the time (hence the several clicks on the laff meter), as was ready to pull a unite potentially had it not happened. There was also an oddity where the 3* damage remote during Fired Up around 43:10 killed the level 11 Two Face who was above half (above 78 HP) who was reinforced with only -60 taken which is strange unless miscalculating. Similarly, a full HP level 8 Two Face died from a 3* remote with reinforced plating at around 1:04:17.
All that is not to say I'm not proud of it. It's definitely been nagging at me a little since I'd done the 1 and 2 star solos that I hadn't done this yet for nearly a year, and I've now done it. It was fulfilling if stressful, and I think I started playing a bit better as it went on. There's a small chance I could go back, but I honestly doubt it without substantial changes to the fight (and likely another playtest to replenish rewards). Of course, not the first to do it. Aware of these two alternatives if interested (fight has changed some over the years):
