Tips on replacing the RH HVAC Temperature blend door actuator for a 2010 Ford Escape with Dual climate temperature controls .

The RH actuator is located in the dash and is very difficult to reach. There are two other HVAC door actuators, Defrost/Floor control & LH actuator. They are easy to replace and there are several other videos available online for these. If you are lucky, your issue will be related to these and not the RH actuator.
Symptom: A/C Left side vent temperature works properly. Right passenger side temperature does not change.
Tips on repair/replacement:
1. Purchase/use a cordless battery power ratchet with an extended arm like the one I used in the video. If you can, find one that is about an inch longer or thinner than what I used. That would help. I could not have replaced this without it.
2. Purchase a 8mm socket that is magnetized.
3. Plug in the new actuator to the car (connector with red tab) and use the passenger temperature controls to move the gear into the same position as the old one you replaced, before you install the actuator. This will also test the actuator to ensure that it is working properly.
4. Purchase a Motorcraft actuator. I have used other aftermarket parts and they are not configured correctly. With other brands you may hear gears grinding when the arm tries to travel further than the vent door allows.
5. Pull the red tab out on the plug connector before you push down/pull and remove it.
6. Use a good flashlight.

Summary of replacement procedure:
1. Remove the glove box. (7mm bolts)
2. Remove the passenger airbag module (10mm bolts)
3. Work through the passenger airbag module opening, remove the RH panel duct screw.
4. Working through the passenger airbag module opening, remove the upper RH center duct screw.
This screw is located close to the top of the radio. Screw is facing down. Plastic duct connected to metal.
5. Remove the lower RH center panel duct screw.
This screw is point toward the back of the vehicle and can be hard to access. Move some of the wire harness pin-type retainers to help gain access.
6. Reposition RH center instrument panel duct to help access the actuator. Remove center vent panel to help access the duct.
7. Remove connector and screws from actuator, replace. (more difficult than it sounds)
This is considered the "alternative" repair method. Shops may recommend that the entire dash is removed to replace this.
