Brazil 🇧🇷 May 2023
After a sleepless 🥱 overnight flight we arrived in Manaus, capital of the Brazilian state of Amazonas, home to the northern Amazon Rainforest.
A long morning getting to our remote Amazon lodge on Juma Lake @pousadajumalake. First a car ride to the boat ramp, then a boat ride along the Amazon River 🚤 via where the river is met with the dark coffee ☕️ coloured Rio Negro to form the largest river in the world by volume. Then another car ride to a remote tributary where we undertook a second boat to Juma lake.
After having lunch and settling in we headed out on the lake for wildlife spotting, where we saw 2 species of monkeys 🐒 and countless river dolphins 🐬.
We headed out for piranha fishing 🎣 towards sunset 🌅 and had a swim under the colourful Amazonian sky whilst surrounded by river dolphins.
After dinner we went Caiman spotting 🐊 and were able to temporarily capture a small one to learn a bit out their behaviour and anatomy before returning it back.
