AITUC Calls Nationwide Strike on February 12 Against Labour, Farmer Policies

Описание: The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has announced a one-day nationwide strike on February 12, 2026, in solidarity with central trade unions and farmers’ unions across the country.

AITUC stated that the strike is being called to protest what it described as anti-labour and anti-farmer policies of the Centre. Key issues flagged include the implementation of Labour Codes, privatisation of public sector undertakings, contractualisation of jobs, and the alleged dilution of workers’ rights.

The union has also raised demands such as the implementation of minimum wages, universal social security for workers, legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers, protection of public sector units, and immediate resolution of long-pending workers’ issues in Goa.

AITUC leaders said the strike aims to highlight growing insecurity among workers and farmers and called upon employees from various sectors to participate in the protest to press for policy changes.
