(9 Jul 1996) South African President Nelson Mandela has arrived in London ahead of his four-day state visit.
He flew into London's Heathrow Airport, accompanied by his daughter, 38-year-old Princess Zenani.
Mandela had asked for an informal arrival -- he's got a packed schedule coming up.

It was a low-key start to his four-day visit. At Mandela's request, there were no big ceremonies at the airport.
The rest of the week will be packed with formal and informal events -- that's probably one of the reasons Mandela's conserving his energy.

A Royal Rolls-Royce took Mr Mandela and the Princess to their hotel in central London.
