Eating at New Zealand's FIRST Capital: Russell! | Northland, NZ Roadtrip (Part 4)

Описание: Russell is New Zealand's historic first capital and a charming seaside town a short ferry ride away from Paihia. For the last day of our Northland road trip, we decided to explore this beautiful town for ourselves!

We took the 15 minute Russell to Opua car ferry which cost $27 and is a reasonable price considering the alternative is a 40 km drive! Upon arriving in Russell we were craving some pastries and coffee so we visited the French Cafe next to the historic Pompallier Mission. It's a beautiful place to relax and their coffee and pastries are some of the best you'll have in NZ!

Afterwards we explored the town for a bit and visited the historic Christ Church (the oldest surviving church in NZ) and Flagstaff Hill, a significant site that offers 360 view of the Bay of Islands. Both sites we highly recommend visiting!

We ended our trip with lunch at Butterfish. A beautiful restaurant next to the sea that offers a mix of classic Kiwi cafe food and Asian fusion. A great spot with reasonable prices and portions!
