Here is a great free template to help you manage your personal finances using a budget. The template is based in Microsoft Excel and allows you to enter your income and expenses as both planned and actual values. This will help you to understand more about where and when you spend your money, and highlight any opportunities to reduce your expenses.
A dashboard sheet gives you some reporting on your planned vs. actual income and expenses, and will give you a forward looking view of whether you are saving or losing money over time.
The template works in Excel 2007+. Macros should be enabled to ensure the dashboard charts are updated.
