Birmingham’s airport can now be accessed from Stranraer with daily returns from the Scottish harbour to Birmingham International station. Virgin Trains are operating a 220 four car “Voyager” unit seven days per week. The service leaves the Midlands at 10:30 and arrives at its destination at 14:40 having called at Warrington, Wigan, Preston, Penrith, Carlisle and Dumfries. Refreshments and seat booking are available.
The inaugural train left today with dignitaries on hand from train and ferry companies.
Also caught by our photographer was the household coal empties returning to Cumbria in the hands of 31270.
