In Singapore, two China nationals made off with S$120,000 from their 83-year-old victim, after they sold him fake gold articles. One scammer told the victim he had discovered an urn containing gold ingots, Buddha figurines and some old currencies. There was even a will that alleged these were left by a rich man for his descendants. The scammers brought the victim to a pawnshop, where they verified that a small piece of gold in their possession was genuine. The scammers then told the victim they were leaving Singapore and offered to sell the items to him below market value. Without verifying the authenticity of the gold, the victim handed over S$120,000 in cash.
