2017 ICC Clare Concertina versus approx 2023 ICC Vintage Concertina

Описание: Comparing 2 Irish Concertina Company concertinas as I transition from one to the other. I've only really been playing for a few years so please excuse the nervous/novice mistakes in both playing and perspective. I've only had the Vintage for a few weeks, so my experience could change. I think that they are both great players in their own way!

4 Month Update - Sold the Clare right after the video, but I do miss its unique personality--no regrets however. I'm very happy to have the trad reeds and would not want to go back. I played it against a Wheatstone (perhaps early 1900s?) and they sounded nearly identical to my ear. Confirmed that the Eiru's keyboard is a bit further from the handrest, about a cm. The bellows have loosened, as I stretch them to the full extent before each playing session and also applied some neutral shoe polish to the gussets to quiet the leather squeak bit. Aligned the pads to their holes a bit by bending the arms in 2 or 3 instances and swapped the reed placement back to the original layout without a problem. It's been playing well! I do wish I had the extra space of the Eiru's keyboard for my hands, still. I wonder if a flat-post design like in the Clare, might help with pad alignment consistency, but it's been totally air-tight since adjustment.
