The City of Pregrada implemented a project called Small Town European Debates Network (StedNET) within the Europe for Citizens program, which promotes cooperation between European countries in areas related to common European history and active European citizenship.
The purpose was to encourage citizens of Europe to think about common values and to get involved in policy-making processes at the EU level. The StedNET project was implemented through the European measure for citizens "Networking of cities", which actually aims to connect citizens from different parts of Europe with the aim of establishing long-term thematic cooperation.
Partners from six European countries (Croatia, Slovenia, BiH, Estonia, France and Latvia) exchanged good practices on development policies in small European cities and encourage citizens' discussions on rural development issues, and in particular:
1. How ICT and digital technologies can improve public services and the quality of life and business in small towns
2. How to develop short food chains and diverse agricultural production
3. How to keep young people in small towns and (p)remain a desirable place to live
The goal of the project was to create a network of small, smart, green and innovative cities in European rural areas of cities.
The total value of the project and the amount co-financed by the EU: EUR 68,040.00/100%
The project is implemented within the framework of the Europe for Citizens program, Subprogramme 2. Democratic engagement and civic participation, Measure 2.2. Networking of cities
