History and origin of the recordings:
Music producer Joe Boyd was founder and head of 'Witchseason Productions' and 'Warlock Music Ltd.'
His stable of talent included (but not limited to): Nick Drake, John and Beverley Martyn, Mike Heron, Fairport Convention, Sandy Denny, Fotheringay, and Ed Carter.
Joe Boyd in an effort to attract other recording artists to cover his roster of talents music; conceived this album of publishers demos.
Elton John (who was fast becoming known artistically by his own material, and one of London's most dependable session pianist and vocalist) was hired by Joe Boyd to give his demo a voice.
Augmented by Joe's (then) girlfriend Linda Peters as vocalist on several songs, they recorded essentially the best of what Warlock had to offer. A large part from Drake's "Five Leaves Left", the Martyn's "Stormbringer!", and two from The Incredible String Band.
Both the Drake and Martyn albums were already commercially released at the time.
Elton and Linda were allowed free reign in their interpretations of the songs, and offer a fresh reading to encourage future covers.
By Joe Boyd's own account; there were only 100 white label acetates pressed.
Only six now are known to exist.
Elton John possesses one.
Joe Boyd does not have custody of a disc.
