The first question military decision makers ask themselves when preparing for a mission is, “What is the situation and how does it affect me?” The terrain within the area of operations almost always dictates the answer, and providing that analysis is the raison d'etre of military geospatial analysts. The 42 Engineer Regiment (Geographic) Capability Development Team has worked tirelessly over the last two years to develop a geoprocessing toolbox with ArcGIS and Python that enables geospatial analysts to provide science-based evidence to aid and speed up the decision-making process. Learn how the team has built bespoke tools to automate and enhance fundamental processes, enabling decision makers to quickly analyse a tactical environment and produce an informed plan.
