Описание: Today, May 15, is the birthday of Nicole D. Connors. She would be 54 but died in the 2022 Raleigh mass shooting. Nicole had a vibrant personality, a beautiful smile that would light up the room, and a warm heart and helpful spirit that led her to go out of her way for those in need. With her master’s in human resources, she worked as an independent contractor.

Nicole was the matriarch of her extended family, the one who would “get things done.” Whether coordinating a veteran’s burial for her dad or leaving her full-time job to care for her mother after a stroke, Nicole stepped in and did what was necessary. She was a sweet, goodhearted person who never met a stranger. She loved dogs and died alongside her beloved Jack Russell mix, Sammy, on their porch…both innocent victims of a teenaged boy’s gun-fueled rampage.

The 15-year-old gunman dressed himself in camo in preparation for his attack. His first target was James, his older brother. He then killed four strangers, including a police officer sitting in his vehicle, and wounded 2 more before being cornered by police and shooting himself in the head. He remains in a rehab facility to this day. Although his motive remains unclear, one thing is certain – he had too easy access to guns.
