Theyyam is an ancient ritualistic performance from the Malabar region of North Kerala, especially in Kannur and Kasargod. More than just a dance or drama, it’s a living tradition where performers channel the energy of deities — often performed in temple courtyards, sacred groves, or family shrines.
Few people outside Kerala have seen Theyyam in its raw, untamed midnight glory — and that’s what I set out to capture.
Filmed in various locations in and around Kannur, Kerala, India — often during late-night ceremonies and temple festivals.
