Fire Shan't Kill

Описание: Another one of these radio advert compilations that seem to be quite popular amongst my videos. I know I've uploaded many of these individually before, so this compilation might not be as incredibly exciting as the other ones may be, but anyway, here we go.

Fire Kills, along with Think!, is one of the most well-known and longest-running PIF campaigns there are. According to some sources, Fire Kills dates back as early as 1988, but it only became firmly established in the COI campaign catalogue in the early years of the 21st century – as you can see, the earliest radio adverts are from that era, too.

This countdown hopefully has every single Fire Kills radio ad in it, from the 'Excuses kill' campaign from 2001 all the way to the newest, paranoia-inducing 'It only takes one accident' advert from last year after a long break. I'm so happy they came back. Many of them don't actually contain the Fire Kills slogan at all, but those ones usually have a sub-campaign slogan on them (like 'Put it out. Right out.'). However, from 2007 through 2009 the entire campaign was apparently put to the back burner at COI, since the adverts from that time don't include any slogan from a Fire Kills campaign we are familiar with. Well, I've included them anyway for the sake of clarity.

It's worthwhile noting that the main point of the campaign shifted from smoke alarm installation to smoke alarm maintenance – apparently enough people have smoke alarms nowadays, but too many of them don't actually work. Does yours?

This countdown contains 68 radio PIFs, making this my second-longest radio advert countdown to date, only losing to the Think! one. It might hold on tight to its place, because it's hard to find campaigns that have had as many radio ads as this one. Thank you, Fire Kills, for returning in 2019, and long live the fire safety campaign that made us all freak out about turning our cookers off and testing if our smoke alarms are still in good condition (even though we last tested them an hour ago).
