The Fred Rueping Leather Company - Strike
Although not Oakfield, the Fred Rueping Leather Company was a large business in Fond du Lac employing many residents, including residents of Oakfield. The below footage of the 1955 strikes at Ruepings has been in the OAHS archives for quite some time and was recently digitized. This is quite possibly the only footage known from Ruepings.
This video is a great example of how nasty the Rueping strike got. Did anyone have family that worked at Ruepings during the strike?
Digitizing footage is an important part of history, but is quite costly, we have another 7 or 8 film reels we suspect are related to Ruepings, but currently budget doesn't allow us to have them all digitized.
