After a winless 2025, Nelly Korda claimed victory at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in Orlando, thanks to the LPGA’s decision to cancel the final round due to cold temperatures and challenging conditions at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club.

After 54 holes, Korda led at 13-under par, three shots ahead of Amy Yang, securing her first LPGA win since November 2024.

Speaking about her performance, Korda said:

“Thursday, Friday were great. We knew Saturday and Sunday were going to be really tough, especially with the wind projection and cold temps. Yesterday was probably one of the best rounds I’ve ever played in my career… mentally preparing and committing to every shot was key.”

🌬️ The LPGA explained the early finish:

“The combination of cold temperatures, wind, shaded areas, and hardened ground made it increasingly difficult to ensure fair and consistent playing conditions… After listening to players, we made the best decision possible.”

While Amy Yang, the runner-up, accepted the ruling, she noted conditions had improved later in the day:

“It got much better. Still cold, but playable. The issue was mainly daylight, not the course itself.”

Not everyone agreed — Annika Sörenstam expressed surprise over the cancellation:

“It’s difficult, it’s cold, but it’s as fair as anything. I told J.R. we can continue.”

🏆 Despite the debate, Korda walked away with the trophy, showing resilience, focus, and mental clarity to start the 2026 LPGA season with momentum.
