Last week we heard from Andrew Judd on how the debate began over having a Maori ward in New Plymouth. This week we hear from him about how as a result of that process he became the focus of immense vitriol from the public. The most amazing thing about that vitriol was that Andrew understood it; he himself had been upset by similar issues in the past. This is the story of how Andrew Judd realised he is a recovering racist.
This underlines the importance for all New Zealanders to understand our Treaty obligations and talk about what the Treaty means to them in modern day Aotearoa New Zealand. That was the genesis behind the Morgan Foundations Talk Treaty project which got prominent New Zealanders talking about the Treaty.
