Three Point Quick Hitch Comparison...Pats' Versus Speeco / Worksaver / Deere / Land Pride

Описание: Had a viewer question about three point quick hitches. He'd ordered Pat's Easy Change from my website without doing much research and was concerned that he'd done the right thing. Today we'll compare the two different designs, Pat's Easy Change, which makes the lower link arms an "eagle claw", and the Worksaver/Speeco/John Deere iMatch/Land Pride QH design (all similar) which does the same thing for both the lower link arms and the top link. Both are better than no quick hitch, but I prefer the Pat's Easy Change.

The Speeco design is a large frame that mounts on the three point and it enables you to back up to an implement and get under the pins and lift it up. The keepers on the lower links are spring loaded and lock the implement into place. The problem with this design is, it's not adjustable for different widths. In a perfect world, the lower pins on all implements you might own would be the exact same width, which is set by the American Society of Agricultural Engineers, and most are. But if you have older equipment or homemade implements, they may not work. Even if they are the same width, the top link part of the Worksaver design is a big hook, and it has to have room to get under the pin on the implement. My experience is that there's usually a brace or something there that prevents the hook from connecting. Then you have to have a floating top link, an added expense and hassle. Finally, visibility to the lower hooks and PTO hookup can be impeded by the frame of the device.

The Pat's Easy Change are two "eagle claw" devices that mount on the lower three point arms. They're adjustable for different widths of implements and can be held in place with an optional stabilizer bar, which I recommend purchasing. Pat's works the same way the Speeco/Worksaver design does, but with two points, not three. You back up to the implement, lift it by the lower link pins (also with spring loaded keepers), attach the top link and your implement is hooked up. I like the simplicity of the design, the visibility, the lack of a big frame in the way when hooking up a PTO, and the fact that the Pat's Easy Change will work with a post hole digger (auger). Either system is a great improvement over no three point quick hitch, especially if you have a tractor without extendable lower link arms.
